I feel fortunate to grow up in the Carolinas where I had year-round access to the beach and mountains.  I didn't realize how privileged I was to live in a moderate climate that easily allowed me to explore the woods and waters of the southeast until I moved away.  I always have a feeling of nostalgia about my old backyard.
